In order to make or receive calls or messages, an Internet connection is required. You can use both WiFi or cellular data. You can also use a wireless hot-spot or a data stick.
This allows you to use OpenPhone roaming-free when you travel internationally.
If you'd rather use your phone plan's minutes or are going to an area with poor Internet, you can forward your incoming calls to your personal phone number as long as it's a US or Canadian number. Learn more here.
